Meet Anita Fiorenza
Author, mother, and passionate advocate for inclusive family stories
Anita Fiorenza is an Australian children's author and the founder of Every Family Has A Story Publishing. Her writing is inspired by her own family's journey and a belief that every family has a unique story worth celebrating.
Her debut picture book, Annabelle's Biggest Adventure – Meeting My Baby Sister, is based on true events from her family's international surrogacy journey and is told through the eyes of her young daughter as she travels across the world to meet her baby sister for the very first time.
Brought to life through warm, colourful illustrations inspired by the people, places and special moments from their real journey, the story captures the excitement, questions and emotions a young child can experience while waiting to welcome a new sibling born with the help of a "tummy mummy."
Drawing on both her personal experience as a mother and her professional work supporting families through international surrogacy journeys, Anita understands how important it can be to explain big and sometimes complicated family stories in a way that feels simple, reassuring and meaningful to children.
Through warm storytelling and child-friendly language, Anita hopes to create books that help children understand how their families came to be, while celebrating the love, people and adventures that make every family story special.
Anita lives in Australia with her family and continues to write stories inspired by childhood, family, belonging and the many different ways families are created.

The story behind the story
How a real family adventure became a book for every family
Annabelle's Biggest Adventure is inspired by our real family journey. When my husband and I decided to grow our family through surrogacy, we knew we wanted to bring Annabelle along for every step not shield her from it, but celebrate it with her.
We travelled internationally to meet our surrogate, and eventually to welcome baby Madison into the world. Annabelle was there for all of it, the excitement, the questions, the long flights, and the most beautiful moment of meeting her baby sister for the very first time.
The book captures that journey through Annabelle's eyes. The wonder, the worry, the pride of becoming a big sister. It's a story about love and about the extraordinary people who help make families possible.

A note on surrogacy
Surrogacy is a deeply personal and often misunderstood path to parenthood. For our family, it was a journey filled with gratitude, love, and the most profound human generosity we've ever witnessed.
Our surrogate Annabelle's beloved "tummy mummy" — gave us the greatest gift imaginable. We want every child born through surrogacy to grow up knowing their story is beautiful, their family is real, and the people who helped bring them into the world are extraordinary.
This book is for those children. And for the parents, surrogates, and families who walk this incredible path together.
